How to Properly Pack a Suitcase

Everyone knows that one of the most essential things when you’re going on a trip is getting packed up so that you don’t arrive at your destination and realize that you forgot everything! It’s essential to know how to properly pack a suitcase so that you don’t end up running out of room and having to decide what to leave behind.

If you are really trying to maximize the space in your suitcase, you can try different techniques with your clothing and other materials. There is an easy way to think about packing a suitcase when you first start– pack your suitcase in shapes such as cubes or sleeves. From there, go along with our list on how to properly pack a suitcase.

Keep Liquids Accessible

It is known that when you pack a carry-on, you will need to put all your liquids in a plastic bag. When going through security, you’ll probably need to take it out. For that reason, it’s best to keep your plastic bag full of liquids in an accessible place. Keep the plastic bag out so that you know you should pack it last and make sure that it will stay at the top of your bag.

Rolling VS Folding

If you’re someone who rolls their clothes, you probably swear by it– I know I do! However, it really is best to pack your suitcase with a combination of both rolling and folding. If you are rolling your t-shirts with your socks inside, it can be really great to save space. You shouldn’t roll your jeans or your other pants because they take up less space by simply folding them.

Packing Shoes

When you are packing your shoes, don’t let any sort of space go to waste. It can be beneficial to stuff things into your shoes, including socks and accessories. If your shoes are dirty, pack them in a plastic bag or put a shower cap over them to protect the rest of your bag from the dirt.

Suitcases can be hard to know what order to pack in, especially because we are typically packing them on their side and aren’t taking into account that they’ll be turned up! I normally pack my shoes at the bottom of my suitcase, just so that they aren’t having a lot of contact with the other things in my bag (you never know what gets on your shoes!).

From there, it’s best to pack your rolled clothes and then put your folded clothes and accessories on top, topping those off with your ziplock bag of liquids so you can easily take them out in the security line.

Packing your suitcase can be intimidating, but it can be easier and easier the more you practice. Our list makes it easy to remember how to properly pack a suitcase. It can be good to keep this list handy for your big trips, and for your small ones alike! Don’t let packing intimidate you because now you know how to properly pack a suitcase!

How to Get Organized

If you have a really hard time with keeping things in order, you might want some help with learning how to get organized. Luckily, we have recently learned how to get organized ourselves and thought we’d share some tips.

Keep reading below to learn habits, tips, and tricks for getting and staying organized in all aspects of your life.

Write Things Down

If you’re struggling to keep track of things that you hear throughout the day or events that you have planned, you should invest in a planner or small notebook to keep track of events and notes from your day to day activities.

Keeping track of all the things you take in every day in your head can lead to confusion, and writing it down can help with organizing your thoughts so you’re less confused.

Don’t Procrastinate

It’s really hard to procrastinate things that you don’t want to do. One of the best things you can do is schedule out all of the things you need to do so that you can make sure you get it all done in time and possibly early.

Plus, the longer you wait to do something the harder it will be to get something done. Getting it done early and quickly makes it so that you never have to worry about getting too close to the deadline or missing it altogether.

Give Everything a Place

Everything in your home should have a place, meaning it should have a place to be and you should know exactly where it can go when it is out of place and in your way.

It’s really easy to get lost if you don’t have a place to go, and the same can be said for your material possessions and activities. If you’re working and sleeping in bed, your brain might not understand what you want when you sit in it. Additionally, it might be good to dedicate time to decluttering your living and work spaces.

Everything that you do requires things and materials. If you’re leaving everything you use throughout the day around your house or work space, you’ll easily get distracted when trying to start a new project or when trying to do other things. Additionally, things can get lost easily in the mess of your day-to-day.

If you aren’t constantly cleaning up after yourself, you will find yourself searching for lost materials and hunting down projects that got lost in the clutter of your other responsibilities. That’s why it’s important to declutter at least once a day, choosing a small location in your workspace or your home and carving out five minutes to put things in their place.

It can be hard to stay organized sometimes. If you follow the habits that are listed above and you make sure to keep everything clean when you’re working throughout the day.

We all know it can be hard to manage being organized, but it can be easier when you are being conscious of putting things in their place, writing things down, and decluttering when you need to. Additionally, make sure you don’t procrastinate.

If you’re keeping all of these things in mind, you will be able to get organized in no time!
